Raanana is celebrating its 85^th anniversary, which will be commemorated at a festive city council meeting to be held at Meged Elementary School – the city's first elementary school.

The festive city council meeting joins a long list of events planned for Raanana's 85^th anniversary, including a ceremony in tribute to the city's outstanding members, the planting of the farmers' grove commemorating the agricultural efforts of Raanana's original farmers, a citrus exhibition and more.

The festive meeting will be held on 12.4.07 at 19:00 in the school's courtyard, which will be decorated in honor of the event. Approximately 200 guests will be invited including Mayor Nahum Hofree, city council members, municipality officials, school principals, former city council members, outstanding members of the city and their families and the city's veteran residents. Mayor Nahum Hofree will speak at the event.

The evening will include folk dancing, a musical segment with a medley of Israeli songs and an original and unique stand-up performance which will present the highlights of past city council protocols and stories about Raanana.

A presentation will be displayed on a giant screen about Raanana's early days and the activities of its original city council members.
