: As a city which promotes sports and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Raanana will participate in the Children’s Olympics, for the 3rd consecutive year, which will be held in Hod Hasharon. Its goal is to encourage students to take part in athletic activity and to maintain a healthy lifestyle, to promote fair play and to bring youth closer together.
This year, 26 local authorities will take part in the Olympics, which will take part in various fields of sports. Raanana will be represented by 160 students from the schools’ sports departments and youth who train in the city’s various sports associations.
Raanana will participate in the following sports: boys and girls soccer, boys and girls volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, ping pong, athletics, roller hockey, boys and girls basketball, swimming, boys handball and artistic gymnastics.
As part of the Children’s Olympics, Raanana will host young athletes in the fields of athletics and roller hockey. The games will be held on Sunday, 2.5.10 from 12:00 to 15:30. The athletics will be held at the Hasharon Middle School and the Roller Hockey will be held at the Raanana Park Roller Rink.
The procession of delegations and closing ceremony will be held at 17:00, and attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports, MK Limor Livnat as well as mayors of the participating local authorities including Mayor Nahum Hofree.
