Starting this May, the Raanana Municipality, in cooperation with Metropolitan, will operate new, state-of-the-art bus lines for the Raanana residents.

This is another step in the expansion of the municipal services in the field of mass transit and in the spirit of Raanana’s philosophy as a sustainable city that encourages the use of public transportation and reducing the use of private vehicles.

The Metropolitan lines will operate along the following municipal intercity lines:
Bus route 47: From the Raanana bus terminal to the Carmelit Terminal in Tel Aviv.
Bus route 48: From the Lev Hapark terminal in Raanana to the Carmelit Terminal in Tel Aviv.
Bus route 147: From the Raanana bus terminal to the Carmelit Terminal in Tel Aviv.

We will significantly increase the number of buses on each bus line and hundreds of weekly trips will be added for the convenience of Raanana residents.  In the next phase, municipal service lines will also be added, including new routes in the city.

In the spirit of Raanana’s efforts to protect the environment, Raanana will operate new buses that meet the Euro 5 standard, which is the most up-to-date environmental protection standard.  The buses will also be equipped with a number of state-of-the-art technology systems:  Free Wi-Fi, advanced systems to improve travel safety and prevent accidents, an innovative electronic ticketing system that supports the “Rav Kav” card and panic buttons connected through an external call service to the security and rescue services.

On Monday, 3.5.10, the new service will be launched in Raanana, with the first trip taken by Mayor Nahum Hofree, accompanied by the company’s CEO, Ilan Karni.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “The Raanana Municipality has set as its goal to enable complete, safe and easy access to every place in the city and has taken upon itself to promote and improve the transportation methods and enable available and efficient solutions to serve as alternatives to driving in one’s private vehicle.”

Metropolitan CEO, Ilan Karni:  “One of our goals is to lead the private car owner to use the public transit services, which offer a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere on one’s way to work, study or home.   One will be able to work using Wi-Fi on our buses, to relax or just read a newspaper.”
