The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day Ceremony held in the evening at the Yad LaBanim Plaza was attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree.  The theme of this year’s annual ceremony was “Poetry from the Ashes” and included poetry written by survivors during the Holocaust.  Six Holocaust survivors lit candles at the ceremony, and poetry was recited by Anat Atzmon and sung by the Hasirenot musical troupe.

This year, the ceremony was simultaneously translated into sign language and projected onto screens, stationed at the ceremony, for the benefit of the hearing impaired.

On Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day, during the day, there was a ceremony, entitled “Every Man Has a Name”, in which the names of the victims of the Holocaust were read aloud.  The names were read by students and residents throughout the day.
