18.2.10 – 5.3.10

The Raanana Municipality in cooperation with Raanana’s Dror Chapter of the Lions Club presents an exhibition from the estate of the late Tzipi Ritz (1915-2005) at the Lev Hapark Community Center.  The exhibition includes her work over a period of twenty years from her seventies to her nineties, as part of a drawing club led by painter Shimon Kaplan.  Proceeds of the exhibition will be donated in memory of the painter’s daughter, the late Mina Zohar, former president of Raanana’s Dror Chapter of the Lions Club at the Lev Hapark Community Center.

Her artwork deals with the core subjects of the art world:  still life, portraits and landscapes.  Many of her paintings replicate the masterpieces, using a traditional technique of oil on canvas.  In replicating the works of the great artists of different periods, her preference for the impressionists is obvious.  These artists worked in Paris in the second half of the 19th century, and include Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet, Alfred Cicely, Claude Monet and she also copies some of the post impressionists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec and Pablo Picasso (who belonged to this group for a time).

It appears that it was not the impressionist research that interested her, rather the subjects involved in their research:  depictions of leisure culture in Paris and its environs in those days; social event; ballet performances; concerts, cafיs, family trips in nature, at the Tuileries Garden, in the Bois De Boulogne Woods, etc.

Her collection reflects her complex inner world where temperament, romance, joie de vivre, longings, opinions and curiosity.  The fact that she succeeded in channeling them to the canvas indicates the important place painting had in her life and also points to her talent.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, 18.2.10 at 19:30 and Mayor Nahum Hofree and  Ms. Pnina Efrati – Lions Israel Regional Commissioner will be in attendance.
