: Friday, 29.1.10,13:00 HaMishkan Center for Music and Arts The fundraising campaign to save the life of 5-year old Ariel Akta of Raanana, in dire need of surgery in Toronto to save her life, is still underway. This Friday, 29.1.10, at 13:00, at Raanana’s HaMishkan Center for Music and Arts, a concert with 60 well-known Israeli classical musicians will gather on one stage. All the musicians will volunteer to help save the child of musicians Limor and Tamir Akta, trumpet players, in this fundraising campaign.
This is the first concert in Israel to be broadcast live on the internet and will enable classical music fans to listen and watch the musicians without the cost of a ticket or sitting in the auditorium. The live broadcast on the Internet will be transmitted for free by the Flixwagon to the website: www.concert4ariel.com.
During the concert, classical music fans are invited to make donations by SMS with the number 10 to 4554 or to deposit a donation to a bank account opened for Ariel – details appear on the website: www.savearielakta.com.
The concert will be hosted by Yoav Kutner and “The Power of Fate” by Verdi will be performed as well as a premiere of a violin concerto called “To Life” written by Tamir Akta. Dr. Binyamin Yosofov will conduct. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award, the Landau Prize and is a conductor, composer and pianist. Violin soloist is Gilad Hildesheim,
Ariel Akta suffers from a rare disease affecting the layer of her cerebral cortex and needs brain surgery to save her life. The complex surgery can only be performed at the Children’s Hospital in Toronto and costs approximately $350,000. $70,000 still needs to be raised. The team scheduled to operate on Ariel in Toronto, if the money is raised, will watch the concert as well.
