: Mayor Nahum Hofree: “Raanana is proud to be the leader in Israel in the field of promoting tolerance. We will work to create a vital ethical society, which contributes and works with respect for all people”
Wednesday, 20.1.10, 20:30 at the HaMishkan Center for Music and Arts
Raanana will dedicate its activity during the coming year to the subject of tolerance in the community in the fields of education, culture, sports and leisure.
Raanana is known as an integrated, inclusive and tolerant community, made up of a variety of populations: religious, secular, young, old, etc. It is based on this vision, that the activity for 2010 will be dedicated to promoting values of tolerance and unique activities will be organized to develop and assimilate these values related to man and his fellow man, man and his environment and man and those who are different – because in Raanana – we accept one another!
The first event to open the year of tolerance will include a performance by singer/composer Hanan Yovel, entitled : “Personal Prayerbook”. His moving performance will include new songs alongside classics. Through his performance, Yovel builds a bridge between the secular and traditional worlds, in order to make them into one experience. The performance will include a symposium on the subject of art and faith, moderated by Rabbi Ronen Neuwirth.
The event will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Aryeh Friedman, director of the informal education administration.
The event is a cooperative effort between the informal education administration, the adult education department, the Jewish Heritage Department and Tzohar and the Ministry of Education.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “Raanana is proud to be the leader in Israel in promoting values of tolerance and mutual respect – in the spirit of ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself”. These social values guide us in our efforts and we will expand them in order to create an ethical, vital society that contributes and works while respecting each person.”
