This week, over 50 Raanana teens attended the opening meeting of the Municipal Youth Council held at the Municipal Youth Center.

The youth represent the middle and high schools, youth movements and organizations, and are active members of the municipal youth council.

The upcoming year of activity of the Municipal Youth Council headed by Sagi Golan is expected to continue to promote the needs of Raanana’s young people and to work on behalf of the community.

This year, the Municipal Youth Council has set as its goal to promote the issue of environmental protection as part of the municipal activity of Raanana, as a green city, and to set up recycling centers at the schools and youth movements.

Another issue to be addressed by the youth council is the phenomenon of alcohol consumption among young people, as part of the extensive municipal activity to stem this phenomenon.  The council will organize activities at the schools on the subject and work to expand leisure activities for the city’s youth.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I am proud of our youth, who are involved, caring and believe in their ability to take part in social processes, to make an impact and bring about changes in the community and in the society in general. We will continue with our successful and fruitful cooperation, on behalf of the city’s youth and will expand the circle of partners in our volunteer and social activity and to meet their different needs in the fields of leisure, education, culture, etc.”

Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub, Director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division:  “Raanana’s youth work to bring about change through leadership.  In light of the challenges faced by the Israeli society, our youth are an example of how things can be different, they are a model of developing leadership, through ongoing social involvement that will lead our country.”
