: Major Roi Klein, who was raised and educated in Raanana, was killed in Bint J’Bel during the Second Lebanon War, after jumping on top of a grenade to save the lives of his soldiers. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Courage for this heroic act of bravery.
Last Monday, the students, teachers and parents gathered at Tiferet Bachurim Synagogue to study together with the school’s Rabbi Yossi Sneh and later, Raanana’s chief Rabbi, Yitzchak Peretz spoke with the students.
During the afternoon, the students and school faculty attended the annual memorial ceremony for Major Klein at the Har Menuchot Cemetery in Jerusalem, together with his family and friends.
Last year, the Roi Klein adopted the soldiers of Golani’s 51st Regiment, where the late Major Roi Klein served as a deputy regiment commander. This step was taken as part of the school’s extensive activity to instill the students with Major Klein’s values, heritage and character, and is in line with the school’s teaching of the importance of combat service in the IDF, volunteer activity, dedication and leadership building.
