The Municipal Youth Council, which is sponsored by the Youth and Young Adult Department, will hold its annual used book fair, in order to enable children and youth to sell and buy books before the upcoming school year.

The colorful fair will be held at Raanana’s Yad LaBanim Plaza, on Thursday, 5.8.10 from 16:30-19:30.  Residents are invited to come and display their books for sale and buy school books in a fun atmosphere, with music by the D.J.s of the HaMartef Youth Club.

The Municipal Youth Council has prepared the book lists for grades 1-12 for all the city’s schools and will set up an information booth for residents who wish to inquire which books their children need for the coming year.

In addition, there will be an information and registration area for the Youth and Young Adult Department’s activities for the coming school year, for all the city’s youth organizations and volunteer and leadership activities run by the department and the youth movements.

Youth who wish to join the Youth Council’s activities and make a difference are invited to call the youth information line at 09-7722000 or the Municipal Youth Center:  09-7747274.

Mayor Nahum Hofree: “The Municipal Youth Council’s activity is an important expression of our youth’s involvement, their taking initiative and assuming responsibility.  It represents our philosophy of developing leadership in our younger generation and promoting social and community involvement.”

Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub, director of the Culture, Youth and Leisure Division:  “The used book fair has become a long standing tradition in Raanana and reflects our values of mutual assistance and social responsibility.  It also is in line with our image as a sustainable city and as always our younger generation leads the way.”
