: As part of the tribute march for Gilad Shalit that began last week, leaving Mitzpeh Hila to Jerusalem, the Raanana Municipality will hold a solidarity rally in the city that will be attended by representatives of the Shalit family. The rally will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and his deputy mayors and city council members. Singer Ruchama Raz will perform at the rally.
The Raanana Municipality will also offer transportation to the Call to the World concert given by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Zubin Mehta and with an appearance by singer Shlomo Artzi. The concert will be held on Monday, 5.7.10 at 17:30 opposite the Gaza Strip in an open area near the northern fence of Kibbutz Aza. Admission is free. The transportation will leave Yad LaBanim Plaza at 14:00, please register at the offices of the Culture Division: Tel: 09-7610340/1.
This Friday, 25.6.10 and next Friday 2.7.10, members of the municipal youth council and national youth movements will hand out ‘Gilad is Still Alive’ stickers and yellow ribbons to be tied onto cars as a sign of solidarity. The booths will be stationed along Ahuza Street, on the sidewalk in front of Bank Discount and at the Yad LaBanim Plaza from 10:00 to 14:00.
Moreover, during the municipal rally held on Saturday, 3.7.10, the youth and young adults department will build a wall – “Birds of Freedom’, where residents are free to write their wishes and hopes on the birds.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “The State of Israel is committed to take every action in order to bring home its boys who have protected its borders. I call upon the residents of the city and its environs to join us and help bolster the spirit of the Shalit Family and call for the immediate release of Gilad.”
