Nighttime bus lines for Raanana youth

Night time bus lines to begin operation to and from entertainment spots in Herzliya and Tel Aviv until 3:30 a.m.
The bus service will begin operation on 20.6.10

Once again, nighttime bus lines for Raanana youth, to and from entertainment spots in Herzliya and Tel Aviv, will run this summer.

These are unique bus lines operated jointly by the municipality, the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety and the National Road Safety Authority.  The nighttime bus service will travel to and from central entertainment spots until the wee hours of the morning - 3:30 a.m.

The bus lines will begin operation on 20.6.10 and include lines no. 229 to Herzliya (to the marina) and 230 to Tel Aviv (central bus station) and will be run by the Metropolitan bus company.  The lines will leave from Kfar Saba, travel through Raanana city center and will run in either direction from midnight to 3:30 a.m.

The Raanana Municipality supports this initiative, as part of its extensive activity to encourage and assimilate proper behavioral conduct on the road and to reduce accidents on the road. The importance of this service is to enable youth and young adults from Raanana to decrease their use of private cars during the summer vacation and to move over to safe, convenient and available public transit.

During the summer months, lines no. 229 and 230 will be run at night, from Sunday to Thursday and Saturday night from Raanana to Herzliya and Tel Aviv entertainment spots and at the end of the summer vacation, the service will continue on weekends – on Thursday and Saturday nights.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I consider this service to be of the utmost importance, because it will enable our young people to adopt safe entertainment and leisure practices, protecting them on the road during the late night hours.  It will enable many of our youth to enjoy themselves and return home safe and sound.”
