THE CENTRAL REGION'S APPEALS COMMITTEE HAS ADOPTED THE RAANANA MUNICIPALITY'S POSITION AND HAS RULED: IT IS NOT PERMISSIBLE TO INSTALL AN ANTENNA ON HAMACHTAROT STREET AND ITS OWNERS MUST REMOVE IT FORTHWITH.

This week, the Central Region's Appeals Committee adopted the decision made by the local committee, which refused to issue a permit for the installation of an antenna on the roof of a home on Hamachtarot Street in Raanana.

In their decision, the central committee members noted that: "This is a question of finding the right balance between the public's legitimate interest in maintaining the appearance of its environs and the view reflected from the homes of those making the appeal and the architectural character of the neighborhood vs. the personal interest of the appellant who is a radio operator. It is the opinion of this committee, in trying to strike a balance between the interests, that the public interest takes precedence and the appellant must investigate possible alternatives, either a smaller installation or a different location."

In the coming days, the Municipality will be in contact with the owner of the antenna who, as mentioned above, was asked to remove it.

Mayor Nahum Hofree has worked diligently since his election in dealing with the various aspects of the issue of the different types of antennas and access installations. He noted that: "The Raanana Municipality has made concerted efforts and spares no expense in improving the city's appearance and architectural character, for the benefit of the resident's quality of life. The Central Committee's decision reinforces our activity in this area and I congratulate them on their decision."
