text
: 12 creative women have joined together for a joint creative experience, and the result of this effort will be on display at an exhibition opening at Raanana’s Gallery By the Lake.
The artists participating in this exhibition are: Orna Shachar, Ita Ziv, Etti Dor, Bella Kaplan, Gisha Vegar, Yemima Lavan, Maya Hayimovitch, Naava Lieberman, Nitza Hoffman, Rachel Kovo, Shula Lis and Shlomit Ron.
The theme of the exhibition is “Reference”, where each artist may choose a place, scene or colors in Israel that she particularly likes as her own point of reference for her work.
Each artist has her own personal style, which makes the exhibition very diverse. Figurative work alongside abstract work, multi-colored work alongside monochromatic.
In addition to the large works of art, there are also smaller creations, made by each artist for another member of the group. This adds additional interpretations to the theme. The exhibition highlights the art of quilting, a technique in which fabric is the principal raw material. Any individual coloring, painting, print or any other change to the raw material, creates the artist unique language.
All the artists in the exhibition are members of the Israel Quilters Association, which consists of 200 members. The official opening will be held on Friday, 2.4.10 at 11:00 and attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub (Culture, Youth and Leisure Division). Gallery Hours: Sundays to Thursdays and Saturdays: 9:30 to 20:00 and Fridays from 9:30 to 13:30. Curator: Shula Lis In the photo: The work of Gisha Vegar and Nitza Hoffman.
