The final project of the art program won the first two places from among 14 schools that participated in the Adi Foundation Competition

Ostrovsky High School boasts an impressive achievement at the Adi  Foundation Competition. 14 schools participated in the competition, presenting their final project on the subject of “Rupture and Repair”.

The Adi Foundation was established in Jerusalem in memory of Adi Dermer (née Blumberg), a young artist who passed away in her prime.  The foundation was established in order to promote artistic creativity that focuses on the connection between art and Judaism, and wishes to merge Jewish values and design and artist creations in all its forms.

At the competition held last week, Ostrovsky High school won the first place for the process used by the school and the students’ documentation of their work on the final project.  Winning in the individual first prize category, was Ostrovsky student, Sofia Nosenovich, for her creation entitled “Strong Soul”, which presents 12 figures who experienced rupture and repair in their lives.

In the past two years, the school’s art department students, under the direction of the department coordinator, Liri Ben Dov, have been working on the Adi Foundation’s “Rupture and Repair” project, during which time they participated in workshops, met with artists, visited museums, etc.  The students presented their work as part of their final matriculation project.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I congratulate the school for its achievements and for the achievement of the city’s student.  Our education system cultivates and empowers talents in all fields and is proud to help its students reach their potential in the field of culture and art.”
