:The municipal education system will mark ‘Good Deeds Day’ that will be held on Tuesday, 16.3.10, with a series of volunteer charitable activities, which characterize Raanana’s spirit of giving. The Good Deeds Day will be held for the 3rd consecutive year in Israel by the Ruach Tova Association, in order to encourage Israeli society to volunteer and assist the community in social and other frameworks, across the country. Various activities to help the community will be held at Raanana elementary schools, which deal with the fields of volunteering during the school year. The religious elementary schools, Bilu, Ariel, Yavneh and Noam will place notes and prayers in the Western Wall, which were collected from children from Beit Issie Shapira.
At Shaked Elementary School, food items will be collected to be sent to lone soldiers for Passover, and at Bartov, toys and letters will be collected to be sent to earthquake victims in Haiti. At Hayovel, Dekel, Meged and Hadar, students will photograph their friends doing good deeds at school, led by the student council administration. Yachdav students will perform, dancing and playing instruments at the Senior Citizen Daycare Center. Members of Ziv’s Children’s Parliament will visit the absorption center and hand out Passover Haggadot. The school will also hold a Seder for the children of the new Olim.
Mayor Nahum Hofree: “The spirit of volunteering and giving back is a central characteristic of the Raanana community. On this day, we will all be given the opportunity to make an impact, a change, and to stop our daily routine for a moment to help someone else, and do a good deed for our fellow man.”
