: The Mayor of Raanana, Nahum Hofree, this week awarded a certificate of recognition to local resident Snir Bar-Ilan, an eighth grade student in Alon Junior High School, who took first place in the crawl event at the Israel Youth Swimming Championships.
Snir Bar-Ilan practices with the Hapoel Hod Hasharon team, and last month took part in the winter swimming championship held at Kibbutz Ashdot Yaacov. In this competition, Snir collected three medals - two personal medals and a group medal! The Raanana swimmer won first place in the 50 m crawl event, and second place in the 100 m crawl, and his team also won a silver medal in the relay race.
Snir Bar-Ilan has been swimming since the age of eight, getting his love of swimming from his family; his older brothers Mor and Liad were outstanding swimmers in their youth. Snir devotes a great deal to swimming, and trains intensively seven days a week.
Mayor Nahum Hofree praised Snir for his personal achievements. Mayor Hofree: “Snir Bar-Ilan’s success is an achievement for us all and a source of pride for Raanana, which fosters and promotes competitive sport from a young age. We wish Snir many more years of continuing to realize his abilities and talents."
