AN EVENING IN TRIBUTE TO AVI NESHER, DIRECTOR OF "THE TROUPE" AND "DIZENGOFF 99"   DIRECTOR AVI NESHER AND PERFORMING ARTISTS SASI KESHET AND AMIR FAY GUTMAN WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE OPENING EVENT.  

As part of the resources invested by the Raanana Municipality in the field of cultural events for the younger generation, the Children and Youth Cinemateque will open on Monday, 21.5.07 at 19:00 at the Eshkol Hapayis located at 4 Ha'hayil Street.

The opening event will be a tribute to the director, screenwriter and producer, Avi Nesher, who created "The Troupe" ; "Dizengoff 99", "The End of the World" and many other popular films. Participating in the evening will be Avi Nesher, who will share his experiences from his work and from behind the scenes; actor Sasi Keshet, star of the film "The Troupe" and Amir Fay Gutman, star of the stage musical, "The Troupe". Avi Nesher, who resides abroad, is coming to Israel to launch his new movie, entitled: "Secrets", which portrays the emotional journey of four religious women who study at a religious seminary in Safed.

The evening will be hosted by Dr. Margalit Molner Goitein, professor of communications and cinema, and selected scenes from the legendary "The Troupe" will be screened. The film has become a successful stage musical at the National Habima Theater.

The purpose of the Raanana Children and Teen Cinemateque is to serve as a center for communications, cinema and television. At the Cinemateque, films will be screened; workshops and meetings with performing artists will be held, in order to expose Raanana's children and teens to these fields.

The opening event will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree; Director of the Informal Education Administration, Zvi Kenig; Supplementary Education Department Manager, Esther Sela; city council members, communications teachers and other dignitaries.

Mayor Nahum Hofree: "Raanana has positioned itself on the cinema and communications map for its younger generation. The Cinemateque will attract a large audience of film lovers and become one of the important cultural venues for children and teenagers."
