In honor of the “On the Wings of Imagination” Festival, Raanana’s book celebration to be held next month, an extraordinary and original exhibition will open at the Yad LaBanim Gallery, by artist Yael Shachar Sarid. The exhibition will display portraits of the greatest Hebrew authors and poets.
The exhibition is a joint effort between the Municipal Gallery and the Municipal Library at Yad LaBanim, and presents 38 portraits of the best Hebrew authors and poets, including: Yehuda Amichai, Leah Goldberg, Natan Yonatan, A. B. Yehoshua, Efraim Kishon, Amos Oz, Dalia Rabikovitz and many others whose creative work have become icons in Israeli culture.
Yael-Shachar Sarid draws using a blade and colored papers. Using a wonderful collage method, she gracefully and patiently creates portraits of the best Israeli authors and poets. First Yael reveals the eyes and immediately following that she reveals the twinkle of the pupils. From there, the remainder of the characteristics follow.
This exhibition is a tribute to authors and poets, who are the mainstay of modern Israeli literature, and who provide a wide spectrum of periods, points of view, atmospheres through their work, as well as the colorfulness of the changing and constantly evolving Israeli society.
The exhibition will open on Saturday night, 8.5.10 at 20:30, and will be attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree and Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub Director of the Cultured, Youth and Leisure Division.
