The school runs a unique project designed to prepare its students to use sophisticated digital equipment and to manage a profitable printing business at the school

Raanana’s Miftan School has launched a unique program in which a digital printing press has been opened, where the students learn a trade and gain experience in running a profitable business.

This is a joint initiative of the Miftan School Association headed by Raanana resident and attorney, Danny Horowitz, and Indigo Ltd.  HP has donated state-of-the-art printing equipment for this project, worth tens of thousands of shekels and Noy Systems Ltd. donated peripheral equipment and sells such equipment to the school at considerably reduced prices.

The program is part of the municipal educational philosophy which promotes personal excellence and helps Raanana’s students maximize their skills. For the students of Miftan Almog, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn and to gain a profession in a field that uses sophisticated digital equipment and it makes an important contribution to the raising of their self image and maximizing their potential, exposing them to team work and managing a profitable printing business.

There are 30 students studying at Miftan Almog School in grades 8 to 12.  The students study for a partial matriculation in the fields of mathematics, computers, Hebrew grammar and English.  The students also study citizenship and history for their matriculation.  In addition the school offers four workshops/majors:  Stage lighting design; car mechanics, hair styling and baking.

The project launch held on Wednesday, 26.5.10, was attended by Mayor Nahum Hofree, MK Zeev Baum – former Minister of Housing and Construction and currently a member of the Foreign and Security Subcommittee and Chairman of the Home Front Command Emergency Preparedness Subcommittee – as well as donors and educators.

Also present at the event:  City Manager Avi Laufer; Education Division Director, Michal Hirsch-Negri; Social Services Division Director Orna Leshem; and the school’s principal, Hanan Reiner.  Representing Hewlet Packard Indigo were Mr. Shabtai Azuz - Assistant VP for Business Integration, Mr. Ron Landau – COO Israel; and Mr. Shlomi Price, Director of the Personal Computer Division.

Mayor Nahum Hofree has decided to invest in the establishment of a printing press and is proud that the municipality will be the principal customer in terms of printing orders.
HP has also decided to print its ads at the Miftan Almog printing business.

Mayor Nahum Hofree:  “I believe in our youth and believe that we must provide them with the optimal opportunities to reach their potential and to succeed in society.  The Raanana Municipality is proud to be the printing service’s principal customer, and currently all the municipality’s divisions receive professional and quality service from the school.”
