For the First Time:  Menashe Kadishman Opens an Exhibition in Raanana

A Unique Exhibition of Prints by the Israel Prize Recipient will include diverse creations from 1969

Gallery by the Lake, 10 Derech Hapark, Raanana – 8.9.07 – 14.10.07

Raanana is proud to host artist Menashe Kadishman, who will present his exhibition of prints from 1969 – 2007 at the Gallery by the Lake in Raanana Park.

In honor of Raanana's 85th anniversary, Kadishman, recipient of the Israel Prize for sculpture in 1996, will present a wide collection of his work.  His prints portray documentary projects in series format, such as "Four Seasons."  Kadishman, a sculptor, painter, artist, investigator and man of the arts, has been part of the Israeli experience since the establishment of the State.  His close relationship to nature and his Biblical background are an important inspiration for his work.

In the exhibition, the artist opens a window to the world of painting, and raises emotionally charged subjects, displaying prints in various forms.  The prints take on a  dimension which differs from their origins, through techniques which combine photography and colorful geometric elements.  He uses fragmentation and disassembly to create new compositions.

Kadishman is a pioneer in conceptual art and he is not afraid to use personification of the national consensus and to address essential and existential topics.  His work is displayed in museum collections at important art museums in Israel and around the work such as:  New York's MOMA Museum, Washington's Hirschhorn Museum, Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum, and London's Tate Gallery, among others.

The festive opening of the exhibition will be attended by the artist, Menashe Kadishman, Mayor Nahum Hofree, Deputy Mayor Ronit Weintraub and Mr. Mark Shepps.  It will take place on Saturday night, 8.9.07 at 21:00 at the Gallery by the Lake.

Exhibition hours:  Sundays-Thursdays between the hours of 10:00 and 13:00; 17:00 and 22:00; on Fridays between 9:00 and 14:00 and on Saturdays form 10:00 to 22:00.
