: For the first time, the Raanana Municipality will hold a cycling event along a route surrounding Raanana Park, as part of its green sustainable activity to encourage the use of alterative transportation, to reduce the use of motorized vehicles and to reduce air pollution.
The “Raanana Pedals Event” will be held on Friday, 1.10.10 from 13:00 to 16:00 and participation is open only to those wearing helmets. Along the route, signs will be posted by the Municipal Road Safety Department, in cooperation with the National Road Safety Authority, to raise awareness regarding safe cycling and adopting safe cycling rules. The cyclists will be given fluorescent ribbons.
During the event, there will be changes in the flow of traffic for motorized vehicles from 12:30 to 16:30 along axes and streets in the Lev Hapark neighborhood, as follows: On HaNesher, HaSaifan, HaAyit, HaEfroni, Duchifat, HaZamir and HaShechafim Streets – entrance and exit only through Weizman Street in the direction of HaNesher. No entry will be permitted through Yerushalayim Street. To Yair Stern, Rivka Guber, Peretz (west) entry will be allowed from the east and exit in the westward direction only. Along Weizman, traffic will be allowed on the section between Geula/Yerushalayim Street to Derech Hapark from east to west only, and no traffic will be allowed from west to east. Cars will not be allowed to travel on Derech Hapark, from east to west and on Yerushalayim from north to south.
In addition, no cars will be allowed to park in the following parking lots on the day of the event, 1.10.10 from 5:00 to 17:00: Mishan, HaAgam, the amphitheater and the Raanana Park administration.
