Dear Residents,
I feel it is imperative to send you this leaflet, in order for all of us to prepare ourselves. In light of the present situation in southern Israel, it is important to remind the entire country of the rules during a time of emergency.
In this leaflet, you will find vital information regarding behavior during an emergency.
I hope that we will not need to implement the emergency system in Raanana; however, it important to be prepared for any situation.
We are here, at your service, both in times of routine and emergency.
Yours,
Nahum Hofree
Mayor
Raanana's Preparations for Emergency Situations
As part of the home front preparations for a state of emergency, the city¡¦s residents are asked to prepare their shelters and residential secure spaces, to regularly maintain them and ensure their proper working order for a possible state of emergency.
The Municipal Auxiliary Law (Shelter Maintenance) 1976 ¡V and Amendment 2007 determined that ¡§The property owner must ensure that the shelter in his property is clean and in proper working order, which will enable its use at any time that it shall be necessary and he shall make any repair or change necessary, in order to meet the requirement. Improper maintenance of the shelter, public or private, is a violation of paragraph 24(b) of the Civil Protection Law and may incur a monetary fine.¡¨
Rules of Conduct When Hearing the Alert Siren
When the siren is heard, you must act according to the following instructions:
Inside a building: Enter the shelter/secure space or an internal secure space, close windows and doors.
Outside of a building: Immediately go inside the closest building. If there is no building in the vicinity, or if you are in an open area, lie down and protect your head using your hands.
In a vehicle in an urban area: Stop at the side of the road and enter the nearest building.
In a vehicle in an intercity area: Continue driving until you reach a built-up area, stop at the side of the road and enter the nearest building.
