In recent years, the Raanana Municipality has invested resources in the development of municipal sports, in establishing a sports infrastructure and developing state-of-the-art facilities. It has cultivated various athletic fields at schools, for children in early childhood to high school programs. This integrative activity has fostered outstanding athletes and athletic groups that have recorded impressive achievements.

Physical education programs for the city's young children in the early childhood programs is a project aimed at instilling habits of participating in athletic activities. Children with athletic ability and talent are scouted and encouraged to hone their skills. Some of the elementary schools in the city offer sports programs, which train students in the various sports fields and enable them to apply for athletic majors at middle and high schools. Middle schools offer sports classes, in addition to sports clubs and various extracurricular sports activities. High school athletic majors are offered to encourage sports and to develop excellence in basketball, volleyball, soccer, and gymnastics, handball etc. Modern gymnasiums have been constructed at all the city's schools and are outfitted with the best available sports equipment. Central athletic facilities have been established for various areas of sports, including outdoor sports fields, located in various sections of the city, which offer amateur sports activities and games at all hours of the day and evening. Many sports activities are organized throughout the city. Thousands of the city's residents, including children, teenagers and adults, take part in a variety of extracurricular activities and sports events throughout the year. These activities and events enable any one to express his/her abilities and talents in his/her favorite area of sports.
